This is the 21st summer that Dawna has offered Sweat Lodges at Brushwood, as part of Rowan Clan. She has continued the traditional lodges as taught by Gene and Linda Rowan. These traditions have been passed down from Ervin Cook on Lake Traverse Reservation in SD. Dawna is the founder of Transformational Healing, offering herbs, herbal remedies, aromatherapy, and spiritual products to bring you back to balance. Many of her products can be found in the Registration Camp Store.
Sweat Information Class: An Introduction to the Inipi Kaga Ceremony
Throughout history people have woven purification and other types of ritual into personal and community life. It has been a powerful part of the human experience. Our discussion will center primarily on the history, traditions, and present day uses of the Inipi Kaga Ceremony. We will also discuss guidelines for participation in the lodges this year. You must attend this class to participate in lodge on Friday.
Mixed Sweat Lodge: Inipi Kaga Ceremony
The Inipi is a sacred ritual, often referred to as the Sweat Lodge. The traditional Inipi Kaga Ceremony comes from the Sioux Nation. You MUST attend the Sweat Lodge Information Class on Thursday to attend. Space is limited. Prior to attending a lodge, one must be free of alcohol and recreational substances for at least 24 hours. The Sweat Lodge is NOT a clothing optional area. Please be prepared. We will have 2 Full Sweat Lodges. One right after the other.
