Jo Frost

Jo has been exploring alternative religions her entire life which has led her on a journey of finding balance, including a healthy eating lifestyle. She is, for the most part, a whole foods plant based eater with occasional breaks to accommodate a more mainstream lifestyle. While her parents explored the more bookish aspects of an alternative lifestyle, she has explored healthy eating, diet and exercise as a way to find balance with many computer hours. She has worked with local dietitians incorporating their recommendations into her healthy eating journey. Jo also teaches full-time and runs four robotics teams, often hearing the nickname a “Mad Woman with a Bot.”

Make Pagan Pride Day Every Day! Building Community Out There Don’t let your horizons shrink in even if you are no longer quite so active out there in the “real” world. Many of us have concerns about how we interact with the public (the threat of Child Protective Services looms large for parents) and we are aware of instances where people have lost jobs because of a newspaper article although that was not the stated reason, the newspaper article was in the person’s personnel file. What can you do? Walk the walk, talk the talk, answer questions when you are asked and get out there! We have advice on volunteering in the community “at-large”. Please come with your suggestions also! All Welcome Sankofa: Friday, July 14

Healthy Gut, Healthy Life Hands On Probiotics, Bring Your Own Cabbage. In this workshop we will learn how to make our very own probiotic, healthy sauerkraut. If you do not like the sour, sauerkraut from the store, I have recipes for a sweeter version that you can enjoy while improving gut health with all natural probiotics from your very own kraut. We can go either way–you tell me $5 materials fee or bring your own stuff, (e.g., mason jar, cabbage, carrots, apples, big bowl). All Welcome.  Sankofa: Saturday, July 15

Wake and Make is a crochet and fiber arts practice in the studio. There will be tea, there will be chatter, there will be extra hooks and yarn and patterns to learn to crochet.  All Welcome.  Sirius Rising: Tuesday, July 18

Living Loving Our Mother Let’s start with recycling. Jo lives in a place where recycling is challenging and inconvenient. There is information available about local recycling also. Yet, she still runs an Earth club and actively recycles. Jo makes Plarn and teaches others how to reduce their carbon footprint. We will make an adult camping craft using materials that Jo has recycled. If we all actively reduce our footprint, we can slowly make a positive outcome for the planet we all currently share.  All Welcome. Sirius Rising: Thursday, July 20

Moving Forward With Wicca Gavin and Yvonne Frost, Jo’s parents, established the Church and School of Wicca in 1968, gaining more notoriety with The Magic Power of Witchcraft published in 1972. Gavin embraced technology, digitizing student records as early at 1979-1980, behind a physical firewall which had barely been heard of at that time. Jo is still working within the online study framework built with Gavin while she was a child. We are moving forward with an active site with thousands of visitors per month. There is an active online Wicca and Pagan community building from the early days of BBS. Jo is out of touch, but has a vision for the techno-pagan community that can use some feedback as we grow and embrace the 2020’s. She would enjoy hearing ideas from the community that my family helped build to see how we can continue to grow. All Welcome. Sirius Rising: Saturday, July 22
