Sirius Rising “Hope and Transformation” Highlights
For 31 years, Sirius Rising has been a beacon of light for the open minded, a place to connect, celebrate, and grow. This year, we delve into the Transformative Power of Hope. Even when shadows loom large, hope is the unwavering flame within us. It’s the belief in a brighter tomorrow that fuels our journey through adversity.
Each day of Sirus Rising we celebrate Elements and Spirit. Many like to wear colors representing the element of the day or Spirit. Monday is Air (yellow), Tuesday is Fire (Red), Wednesday is Water (Blue), Thursday is Earth (Green), and Friday is Spirit (White and Purple). All colors and types of costumes for Saturday’s bonfire celebration.
Elemental themed daily elemental rituals transport us through this journey of hope to transformation. The ritual path is described below culminating in Saturday’s Bonfire celebrating the journey from Hope to Transformation. Most evenings follow an evening sequence of Ritual at the Elemental Shrine– Music at the Main Pavilion – Fire Lighting Honoring each Element at the Roundhouse except Tuesday when the music starts before the ritual.
Seeds of Hope – During the elemental rituals, small wooden discs will be available representing the Seeds of Hope. Hold one in your hand and place it in the treasure box at the end of the ritual. Embrew your Seeds of Hope with the energy of the ritual and your intention for the future. The discs represent your message to the stars that will be sent during Saturdays sacred celebration fire.
Monday (8:00 pm): Air Ritual – Awakening Hope focuses on recognizing hope as a vital force and invites participants to release fear and doubt, opening their hearts to possibility.
Tuesday: Fire Ritual (9:00 pm) – The Spark of Inspiration – Fire embodies the primal energy of transformation, the force that turns hope into aspiration and will. This ritual explores how the spark of hope awakens our potential, rises to become conviction, and spreads outward to inspire others, creating a collective force for change.
Wednesday: Water Ritual (8:00 pm) – The Flow of Co-Creation – Water symbolizes adaptability and the blending of individual contributions into a shared whole. These rituals honor the transformation of personal aspiration into a collective co-creation, where the communal vision becomes greater than the sum of its parts.
Thursday: Earth Ritual (times below) – The Foundation of Empowerment – Earth represents stability, grounding, and growth. This ritual emphasizes that empowerment arises from shared strength and the collective support of the community.
Ritual part one (tentatively 10:30 am): blessing and preparing the ground earlier in the day. The holes will be dug to plant a tree in the evening.
Ritual part two (5:30 pm): adorning the trees. At the children’s ritual, the children will adorn the tree with decorations and speak positive messages to the trees.
Ritual part three (Main Ritual 8:00 pm): planting the sacred grove.
Friday: Spirit Ritual (times below) – The Journey of Hope (Labyrinth) Spirit represents unity, the sum of all elements, and the transformation of individual hope into collective will. This silent ritual guides participants on a reflective journey through the Brushwood Labyrinth, culminating at the center, the place of Spirit. Participants are encouraged to carry sigils with personal intentions for transformation and/or Seeds of Hope while engaging in labyrinth meditation.
Making a Sigil for Your Labyrinth Walk (Tuesday & Friday at 2:30 p.m.) create a sigil that represents a personal intention for you, perhaps related to this year’s theme of Hope & Transformation. (See Margert Haas biography for more details)
Ancestor Ritual (8:00 pm at the Ancestor Area) – See program
Spirit Ritual Part One (8:30pm following the Ancestor Ritual) Once the community has gathered, the Archers Walk the Labyrinth path from the center to the gate. This symbolizes the offering of the Spirit’s gifts to the community, preparing the Labyrinth for the collective journey. Once the Archers complete their walk, attendees are invited to begin their silent journey through the Labyrinth. The Labyrinth Guardian steps aside and blesses the gate for the community to enter. Additional Seeds of Hope will be available at the entry to the Labyrinth for anyone to take. The Mickeys (acoustic performance) play in the background during the community walk.
Spirit Ritual Part Two (10:30pm following nightfall): After night falls, the Labyrinth and all its altars are fully illuminated with candle luminaries along its path, creating a sacred, silent and contemplative atmosphere. The silence remains, and attendees are free to walk the Labyrinth individually or in small groups throughout the evening, deepening their connection to the journey.(All Archers walk silently in a procession line with candles and white lanterns through the village, past the Main Pavilion and the Roundhouse, and provide a visual cue for all who wish to walk the Labyrinth.)
Saturday: The Bonfire – The Beacon of Transformation The culmination of the week celebrating the journey from Hope to Transformation. The Seeds of Hope will be placed in the fire along with our intentions for the future.
