Steve Matheson started playing drums when I was just a wee fellow up in the frozen north looking for a way to stay warm. It wasn’t until ten plus years back that I discovered djembes and the round house, drumming changed forever after that. I’m excited to share some of what I’ve learned over the years and to get to know more drummers through these workshop
Intro to Drumming. Learn the basics of playing percussion, Djembes in particular, but applies to all drums and shakers. If you’ve never played before or have been playing and want to find your way into the nightly Round House sessions, this is for you. Learn to vibe with drummers and connect with dancers. All Welcome. Intro to Drumming. Building on the first class and also for new folks, learn the basics of playing percussion. If you’ve never driven before, pulling into rush hour traffic is a difficult way to learn, a parking lot is much more appropriate for everyone around. So think of this class as a parking lot and the nightly sessions as rush hour, come on by and get the equivalent of a parking lot lesson for drumming. All Welcome. Sirius Rising: 3:00-4:30 p.m. THU, July 24 North Stage
