Penny Goody

Penny Goody encourages play as a transformational process. A fixture at many festivals nation-wide, she shares her insights while seeking to expand the boundaries of “magical crafts”.  An initiated member of the Sacred Dance Guild since 1968, She received her Doctorate of Divinity degree in 1990, returning to school to finish her Master Degree in Botany. Initiated as an official “Crone”, Penny seeks to grow through play, to dance, laugh and enjoy each day together.

Let’s make Gods eyes!  The ancient art and construction of these colorful objects is said to originate with indiginous people of Central America. The concept= weave bright colors which serve as an eye to watch over others, to influence situations, and to bring good luck. Gods eyes 2  We’ll study more advanced techniques of weaving mandalas as well as Shamans’ arrows designs. This class will follow the steps introduced in part one, using the same weaving methods to create individual meditative creations. Geared towards adults. All materials provided. Paper Fortunetellers.  Let’s fold a paper “cootie catcher” design and entertain others with our predictions. This fortune teller is a form of origami used in children’s games. A paper square is folded, parts of it are labelled with colors or numbers that serve as options for a player to choose from, and on the inside are eight flaps to decorate. We’ll think of the divination messages concealed inside the folds= good luck and silly wishes too. Are you ready to rock?  Young artists can find their own inspiration while painting arsty stones. We’ll create simple love pebbles, wizard stones, and mystery eggs. Magical Ribbon Dancing.  Go with the Flow as we use 9 and 13 foot long ribbons to draw in the Space around us.  Color and rhythm combine as we learn the techniques of drawing dragon tails and creating vortexes.  We will learn magical chants and incantations to incorporate into the Dance too.  Bring water to drink!  Ribbonsticks provided.
